The DayStar 0.5x focal reducer is designed to increase field of view for astronomical imaging. Compatible with 2 inch focusers and M42 T thread, it enables reduction down to 0.33x with extension. Its four element optical design ensures high contrast and optimized image quality.
The DayStar Imaging Focal Reducer 0.5x is designed for astrophotography applications to significantly increase field of view. It is built for 2 inch drawtubes and features a 36 mm clear aperture.
The standard M42x0.75 T thread allows direct connection of camera specific T rings for DSLR or imaging systems. With a camera directly mounted, the focal length is reduced by a factor of 0.5x. Adding the included 20 mm T extension tube allows a reduction factor of 0.33x.
When combined with the DayStar T-thread Interference Eliminator, a reduction factor of 0.38x can be achieved without interference. The usable field of view depends on the etalon clear aperture, with Quantum filters providing a larger usable field than Quark or Ion systems.
This reducer allows full disk solar imaging with 2/3 inch monochrome CCD sensors such as ICX625, ICX655, IMX250 and IMX264.
The optical design includes four elements in two groups and knife edge internal baffles to improve contrast.
