    Baader Heavy Pillar (BHP) – Modal steel pillar with up to 600 kg payload capacity

    Description

    The Baader Heavy Pillar (BHP) is a robust conical steel column specially designed for permanent installations involving heavy astronomical mounts, such as GM 3000, GM 4000 or PlaneWave L-350.

    Its octagonal welded steel construction ensures optimal rigidity and vibration damping. The base plate measures 500 x 500 mm, and the top plate (240 mm diameter, 25 mm thick) features three M14 threaded bolts and a central hole for optional quartz sand filling on-site.

    The pillar includes a 3-inch internal cable duct and weighs approx. 114 kg for the 60 cm version.

    Important notes

    Baader’s BHP and BMP steel pillars are exclusively available as part of a complete mount or observatory project purchased from Baader. The listed prices are subsidized. Standalone production of such a complex product would not be economically viable.

    Each pillar is custom-made and typically has a long lead time. It must be anchored into a concrete foundation prepared to Baader’s specifications. A dedicated leveling flange, custom-made for each mount, is required:

    • Leveling flange for GM 3000 – ref. 2451186 (10 cm height)

    • Leveling flange for GM 4000 and PlaneWave L-350 – ref. 2451185 (10 cm height)

    The combined height of pillar and flange should not exceed 175 cm. A consultation is always required prior to order to align with the installation structure.
